S1/Y1 Polyclinic Attachment

This is my first exposure to a clinical working environment. I was very tense especially when i stepped out from my house in my student uniform. I am kinda uncomfortable because I am not fully equipped with the nursing skills. I pray nothing happen along the way to polyclinic. I know I must behave professionally because I am in uniform.

We were welcomed by Sister Tan WaiLan Daphne & Lee Poon Soai who brought us around to familiarize with the polyclinic and explain to us the "Less-Fat choice" display along the pathway.

Most of the staffs at YP (Yishun Polyclinic) are friendly. They're willing to teach and guide us although they are kept busy with the usual endless long-queued clients.

Me and Joy are grouped together. Today, we went to Room 34 and 35: Family Planning and PAP Smear respectively. I got to learn a lot of useful knowledges from Staff Nurse Suria and Helen Wee like BSE(breast self-check examination), mammogram, types of contraceptive methods, types of screening for pregnant lady and even got the opportunity to witness a real-time PAP smear being carried out by Dr.Donna Tan. Whow! Joy was kinda terrified that she stood a distance away... :P

I am looking forward for tomorrow! GO GO GO!!!
